Eliya’s Story: From Piano Beginner to Playing “Complex” Music…

“I started taking lessons with Jordan after I experienced some pain playing piano, and the lessons with him have completely transformed how I play and even sit at the piano. Once we got over those growing pains, Jordan and I started working out arrangements to tunes and diving more into harmony. Jordan has a unique gift for explaining complex music theory concepts in a way that anyone could understand, and he can really transfer these abstractions from mere ideas to the actual piano playing.”

- Eliya (Illinois)

Alex’s Story: From Debilitating Pain to Playing Piano again…

“Several months into learning how to play the piano, I developed a debilitating pain. Playing a single note, or even sitting at the piano bench, became excruciatingly painful. I began reading about proper piano technique and posture, and tried many adjustments - but nothing helped. Luckily, I met Jordan. With Jordan's perceptive and patient guidance, I was able to get more comfortable at the piano and eventually return to playing. Jordan's lessons not only changed how I play and think about the piano, but also improved my movements at the computer desk and more generally.

“Jordan is a wonderful teacher who explains things intuitively and clearly. He can diagnose subtle differences in movement (and in virtual lessons!). Jordan also integrated our work on movement with musical concepts in creative ways that made my process of re-learning to play the piano much more fun - and helped me stay in touch with the music. It's safe to say that if it weren't for his help, I wouldn't be able to play piano today. I couldn't recommend Jordan more strongly!” - Alex (Michigan)

Lisa’s Story: Giving her Children an Enjoyable Experience Learning Piano…

“I highly recommend Jordan Christianson for piano lessons. Our boy/girl twins began with him at age 6 and they flourished in the years we were lucky enough to have him. What I found so surprising is that they never complained about practicing, like I did growing up. Jordan was able to teach them theory and how to read music in a way that made them want to learn more, practice more, and become better players. He does this without a heavy hand, which was important to us. While they learned and played several styles of music, he would also allow them to choose a piece to learn from time to time. They really enjoyed learning something that plays on the radio or in a video game. Something else I find very important is communication with parents. Jordan is excellent at this, writing clear notes about assignments or advice, and being available via email for questions. He gave our children the best possible start to lives full of learning and music.”

And so many more Success Stories…

“It was actually very hard to find someone that could help… I thought lessons might be like what the classes at [music school] were like. They were kind of straight from the book… It is great that the format is more open so we can focus on my goals.” - Jim (Illinois)

“I feel that my piano lessons are music therapy. I have benefitted from Jordan's encouragement of a curious, exploratory, and non-judgemental approach to my own piano playing. He's really good at coming up with sayings that are useful for self-cueing during my own practice time. However, the sayings aren't just for piano- they're mentalities that just apply to life in general! I love my lessons every week because they're my self care time. The lessons have improved my piano technique, made me more aware of my posture outside of piano class, and helped me feel more at peace with where I am in my piano journey!” -Kate (Texas)

“I worried that the online modality wouldn't allow the teacher to pick up on subtle sources of tension or bad posture, and that there are things you just have to feel to diagnose. I was surprised at how many subtleties about my movements Jordan was able to pick up just by closely watching and asking me questions.”
